Connecting Alumni and Friends is Central to our Success

For nearly three years, the Central Arkansas Advancement Office has provided a much-needed connection for University of Arkansas alumni, friends, faculty and staff in the Central Arkansas region. The satellite office, located in the Simmons Tower in downtown Little Rock, has already proven to be beneficial to those who have utilized its services. Advancement professionals, staff members from enrollment services & other university officials traveling to Central Arkansas for university purposes use the office, meeting, and event space, which is under the direction of Director of Development Emily Money.

“The physical presence that this office gives us in the Central Arkansas community is invaluable,” said Money. “I’m pleased we are able to provide workspace to collaborate and gather together alumni, faculty, staff, and students in Little Rock.”

The office gives the university the much-needed flexibility to carry on official university business in an area where there is a large concentration of alumni and prospective students. Schools like Little Rock Central, Catholic High School, Little Rock Christian Academy, Mt. Saint Mary’s Academy and North Little Rock High School West make up the top five in Little Rock that send students to the U of A. And the Central Arkansas Alumni chapter of the Arkansas Alumni Association boasts 12,809 members. The chapter even has its own scholarship program, which has bestowed 137 student scholarships totaling $141,825.

University and community connections are heightened by events in the area. In October, Simmons Bank hosted an event for alumni and friends at the Simmons Tower to share their love of the Razorbacks as well as listen to bank's host, Senior Vice President John Monroe (B.A. '90), and Associate Vice Chancellor and Executive Director of the Arkansas Alumni Association Brandy Cox, who called the Hogs with the help of alumnus Garland Ridenour (B.S.B.A. '66, L.L.B. '68). This winter and spring, the office is also hosting those who travel to Central Arkansas for the Arkansas Business Hall of Fame and the Silas Hunt Legacy Awards.
