Financial need continues to shape educational outcomes across Arkansas. One in three Arkansas freshmen receives a Pell Grant, and students with significant financial need graduate at rates nearly 20 percentage points lower than their peers. The Land of Opportunity Scholarship helps close that gap. By removing financial barriers and providing the resources students need to succeed, the scholarship directly supports the university’s 150 Forward Reaching Higher goal of achieving an 80% six-year graduation rate — and its broader commitment to student success.
More than 100 Land of Opportunity Scholars are already on campus, representing 57 Arkansas counties and counting. As the program grows, its reach will expand across Arkansas, advancing our land-grant mission and commitment to students in all 75 counties.
